After a meeting in brussels with the EU diplomats on november 11. Mr M Georges Chicoty, an angolan vice- minister for foreign affairs stated that angola are ready to send its troops to support the congolese army(FARDC). The decision cames after the SADC declared on the 7 november to military support the UN mission in the DRC(Monuc) and the DRC army to regain peace and institutional order to allow the congolese citizens especially those in the northern kivu to live in peace. This is an initiative by the SADC and the CEEAC members countries to defend their members against attacks by rebel groups.
The need for the congolese army to reform is now of paramount importance. A well-equiped and motivated FARDC is vital for the DRC to maintain its territory integrity and protect its citizens against attempts by armed rebel groups in the future.
