After the resignation of antoine gizenga, DRC once again found itself in a new cross road. The president of the republic has to make perhaps the most difficult decision of his tenure. For the first time ever, He faces a difficult decision of choosing a sucessor to antoine gizenga, the departing prime minister was choosen last time as part of the deal which in somewhat bought Kabila to power, in the last election Mr gizenga came third which meant he had an important role to play in the secound round .
He formed an alliance with Mr Joseph Kabila which gave them victory over Mr Jean piere Bemba. As part the deal Mr gizenga had assured himself the role of prime minister. Now two years later, Mr Joseph Kabila has the opportunity to readdress the balace of power and to appoint a prime minister own his accord. perhaps for the first time he has had the opportunity to do so without his hand being tied by party or alliance politics. The future will judge him more on this than any other time. With the failings of the last cabinet to address social, political and economic issues affecting the country. For most part the government had failed to address any of those issues which gave cause to various critics of the president .
